First and foremost, the featured picture here was me circa August of 2016. This was a long time ago and I was at the end of my “pre-bulk cut” so to speak.

I do not follow traditional cut and bulk cycles, but I definitely wanted to make sure I “cut” before I began any serious weight training. You can learn about my reasoning behind this in more detail here.

It’s not like it’s a new concept or a new “idea” since it’s literally been around for millennia – think of our ancestors chasing down animals to eat. They ate when they could. Sometimes not until late that evening.

Intermittent Fasting is NOT A Magic Weight Loss Pill!

For me, I have realized quite a few benefits of daily intermittent fasting. The most profound benefit is that I simply do not eat as much food as I normally would.

Don’t misconstrue the information, however – intermittent fasting is NOT a magic-bullet, cure-all weight loss idea or principle. It can be used to make your efforts towards weight loss more enjoyable in that you can generally eat more and enjoy your life more. That’s what Physique Authority is all about.

A little history behind myself and intermittent fasting, and what it’s done for me.

I would wake up in the morning and eat two granola bars and a banana, easily adding 200-300 calories for the day and this was before 7am!

Then, I would get to work and on break grab a breakfast sandwich at the coffee shop with egg, sausage or bacon on a biscuit and easily add another 500 calories. By this point, I’d be up to almost 900 calories all before lunch!

When it comes time for dinner, having consumed various amounts of calories for the day naturally I didn’t leave myself many left over.

The only problem with that was that I would be absolutely starving throughout the day and just couldn’t help myself at dinnertime. It was just inevitable that I would eat more calories than I really needed.

My Personal Experience with Intermittent Fasting

Before I discovered intermittent fasting I was overweight, I could not see my abs, I was weak and I was emotionally attached to food.

I was in a very rough spot in my life and I had been making decisions that were not leading me to happiness – and food just happened to be around to numb my pain and give me a sense of relief for my depression.

But you know what? Comfort and security were the two things that were always holding my life back from achieving what it was meant to achieve! Food just provided me with the comfort and security, so I thought.

Don’t get me wrong, you need food to survive obviously but for me, when it became an obsession, I was doomed. Food WAS my life.

After a while of being overly depressed about my life and my body’s condition, I slowly started looking for ways to improve the situation and by some crazy coincidence I stumbled upon a website and YouTube channel by a guy named Greg and Greg revolutionized my life.

He first introduced me to intermittent fasting back in January of 2016. He said I could eat anything I want if I just skipped breakfast.

Yeah right. So I thought.

But Greg was on to something. Greg’s whole approach was to basically get you out of your comfort zone and get into doing something that initially makes you uncomfortable but that has the potential to help you realise immense success

It was right then and there that I decided to do intermittent fasting. I didn’t even need to try it first – I simply just began doing it, every single day.

How has Intermittent Fasting Helped ME?

The whole principle behind fasting is to eat later in the day and not eat breakfast. However, you’re still going to eat all of your required micro and macro nutrients throughout the day – you’re not going to starve yourself.

In fact, there are several studies that focus on all of the positive health benefits of intermittent fasting, one of which you can view here.

I won’t go into detail about this now but you can always feel free to review that article among many more easily found online at NCBI.

Now, let’s just ignore the above health benefits for a moment and focus on the practicality of IF.

You don’t cook as much, you can eat larger portions of food later in the day, you can eat food that you normally would not otherwise like ice cream and cookies (providing you are still eating a healthy and balanced diet – meaning nutritious). I actually dislike the term “healthy” – I use nutritious and rich in the nutrients your body requires.

Intermittent fasting makes it so easy to melt fat off your body like melting butter while cooking your favorite foods. Once I began to implement fasting into my daily routine it helped me tremendously by letting me let go of my eating addiction and focus my energy on the task at hand whether it is driving to work, working, or any other activity that I would have otherwise had to eat before doing.

This whole thing has also helped me break out of my comfort zone and try things I never have before. I didn’t have to eat anymore first thing in the morning anymore and I actually cringe now and feel ill at the thought of scrambled eggs at 7am.

My stomach literally hurts from eating breakfast these days.

I will Never Try to Convince You to Adopt Intermittent Fasting

As you may know, this website is all about presenting you with information that you can do with what you please. I am simply here to display it to you in a way that might help you to see things from a different perspective.

Like I said – I will not try to convince you to do IF or anything else on this website. I simply like to share my experiences with certain things and perhaps spark a discussion.

However, when you choose to employ easy-to-follow and ground-breaking fitness techniques, you will skyrocket your ability to melt fat off your body effortlessly and in a entirely enjoyable and sustainable fashion.

The secret is that if you’re doing something in life – it could be anything – and you’re miserable doing it, chances of you actually sticking to this and continuing to do it while being miserable are virtually non-existent.

Any food that claims to have probiotics should contain at least one of the strains listed here. This is also true for probiotic supplements, so always read the label if you are in doubt.

You can start by altering the pH of your digestive system by eating more sour foods.
